The Fox Chapel Social Justice Group is focused on issues specific to the Fox Chapel Area School District and the Boroughs and Municipalities within the District.

Our mission is to strengthen our communities through progressive social change, diversity , and inclusiveness.

To our Teachers and Educators

We pledge to support you in your efforts to create a classroom and school environment that respects and affirms all student identities. We understand that you, like us, are learning, and with that will come mistakes. We will not publicly shame teachers who misstep but instead provide you with the resources and tools you need to grow and learn as educators committed to equity and inclusion. When you encounter obstacles from the community-at-large or school administration, we will support you publicly and privately. 

To our Students and Children 

We pledge to support you as you learn and grow. We will work to ensure that your school and community environment is welcoming and inclusive for all.  We will advocate for a curriculum that teaches a full and accurate history, acknowledges the contributions of diverse individuals in all subject matters, and encourages critical thinking with a world view. We will speak out against injustices and inequalities within our school and community. We will amplify your voices and encourage you on your own paths to be citizens of the world. 

To our Community 

We pledge to work for equity and justice for all community members and to make the Fox Chapel Area School District a welcoming and inclusive community to live and work within. We will listen to and amplify the voices of community members who have been marginalized. We will participate in our local elections and advocate for systemic change. We will commit to a lifetime of learning (and unlearning). Though we may tire, and public attention may wane, we will not give up.
